Abstract: | The authors overview and test the theories of optimal CEO stock option awards the restricted stock grants on a sample of over 1,700 firms over the 1992-97 period, using detailed data on stock-based compensation contained in proxy statements. The authors also develop the arguments behind their empirical models. Then they discuss the measurement of their compensation variables and research design and describe the sample and descriptive statistics. Then the authors describe the sample and descriptive statistics, they provide the empirical results and compare their results to those of earlier studies and offer reasons for the differences. In the last section the authors provide their conclusion. |
