Abstract:Last March the Moscow-based World Energy Analysis and Forecasting Group /GAPMER/, which is the only independent think-tank serving relevant needs of Soviet energy policymakers, updated and developed its previous December 1990 outlook on the world oil market to the year 2000. Now that the war is officially concluded and the most puzzling question of its duration has been answered, this half-year conflict case can be further developed on a renewed data base. For this purpose three medium-term scenarios are developed, which assume no more serious military conflicts in the Middle East at least until the year 2000 and which differ mainly in accepted growth rates for the developed market economies.
