Abstract:The input-output model for North Norway is used to simulate the employment impact of future oil activity off the coast of North Norway. A deterministic simulation technique and sensitivity analysis is applied to identify possible constrains in the regional economy with the aim of maximizing the employment impact in the region. It was found that the direct impact is relatively small - only about 6 percent of the total impact. The indirect impact comprises 52 percent of the total impact while the induced impact accounts for the rest. Of the total impact, 45 percent is generated in the transport equipment and transport service industry. The sensitivity analyses underlies the importance of these two industries.
