| Abstract: | The purpose of this research note is to examine foreign direct investment in the tourism industry of Turkey and the relevance of international business theories in explaining that investment. A survey of transnational corporations in Turkey's tourism industry provides a systematic inventory of their type, home country, operational form, motivation and source of financing. Theories of foreign direct investment have considerable explanatory power as regards the growth and development of tourism in Turkey. |
