| Abstract: | The commitment of transactional corporations to international production can be better measured from capital expenditures than from foreign direct investment. This paper provides an empirical investigation of the determinants of capital expenditures by majority-owned nonbank foreign affiliates of nonbank United States transactional corporations in five developed countries during the period 1975-1992. Various versions of a reduced-form model are estimated with market size, market growth, exchange rates, interest rates and tariffs as the independent variables, using the least squares dummy variables technique. |
