Abstract:There is a strong divide in the current literature on international business strategy. One school of thought argues that, due to market constraints, there is only one best practice for the internationalization of companies. This view is strongly opposed by a second major approach, which stresses structural dependency. According to this second view, the internationalization strategy of a company is largely shaped by its origin. This article shows that there is no need for such a strong divide.
