Abstract:The book is divided into two basic parts. Part One, comprising the first four chapters, is theoretical in nature and provides a detailed overview of the current state of international business and information systems research into the role of information technologies in multinational organizations. Contributing authors in this book are from a variety of fields such as strategic management, geography, urban planning, and social sciences, in addition to international business and information sciences. The theories covered include 1) the theory of the MNE, 2) Transaction Cost Analysis, 3) Organizational Structure and Control, 4) Decision Theory, 5) Strategic Issues and 6) Other International Issues. This serves as a sound foundation for the empirical and case studies, which follow in Part Two.
