Abstract: | With the development and "industrialization" of management consulting, there is a growing perception (not always wrong) that all firms are alike. For companies wishing to call in an external consultant, the task of selecting a firm has become increasingly complex, and even risky. Yet, contrary to all appearances, consulting firms today do not have the same expertise nor work methods. Based on an in-depth analysis, five broad categories of management consultants are described: the "intellectual adventures", the "strategic navigators" the "management doctors" the "systems architects", the "friendly copilots" thereby providing potential clients with guidelines and criteria for making pertinent choices. |
