Abstract: | Islamic funds are the latest phenomenon in Islamic banking. The trend is evident from the increasing number of Islamic equity and commodity funds emerging all over the world, with an estimated market size of more than $1.5 billion. Some analysts consider this a positive trend, while others are more sceptical about the likely success of Islamic funds due to practical difficulties. The initial response from the market is mixed and it is too soon to judge their performance, reports Zamir Iqbal. |
