Abstract:Three emerging new strategies in management education are described: modular programs, complementary contributions and distance education. It is argued that information technology (IT) seems to offer great promise for helping advance these strategies. Computing facilities, modern networking, teaching packages are mentioned for illustrative purposes. Seven common myths surrounding IT in management education are debunked (e.g. IT is cheap; IT makes life easier; IT helps in saving money etc.). The right ways in the application of IT in management education are described and illustrated. The role of computer modelling is stressed. Two simulation programs are presented which had been developed at Manchester Business School.
