| Abstract: | This paper models two dimensions of bank globalization, that is bank nationality and bank reach using a 2-stage nested multinomial logit model. The data set used includes over 2.000 foreign affiliates of multinational corporations operating in 20 European nations and over 250 banks serving them. It is found that these firms frequently use host nation banks for cash management services, and that bank reach may be strongly influenced by this choice of bank nationality. The results suggest limits to the degree of future bank globalization. |
