Abstract:One of the most critical decisions for organizations to make is a strategic change. This study focuses on the role of groups at the top of hierarchies, proposing that concentrated power either in the CEO or in the top management team (here as: t-m-tm./t-m-tms.) is prone to be exercised, leading to a high rate of strategic change. Derived are hypotheses on how formal and informal power concentration (as: pwr-cnstr.) in t-m-tms. have an effect on changes in corporate diversification. Based on study findings, it is suggested that pwr-cnstr. strongly affects decision making.
