Abstract: | In this article a discursive view is taken on organizational creativity, studying subject positions and power relations produced within a discourse on creativity in two distinct types of creative organizations, an opera house and a games company. Specifically, the focus is on how the discourse is practised in creative production processes. The two cases demonstrate how the macro-level discourse on creativity can be applied in a more micro-level construction of subjectivities. Several subject positions both organizations shared were identified, and their embedding in the organizations' formal and informal hierarchies was studied. By taking a discursive viewpoint to creativity, we have also been able to examine various unwanted consequences of emphasizing creativity in organizations. |
