Abstract:Every organization faces challenges in executing its strategy. Great companies know how to work through them. The article presents several principles for creating the kind of frank public dialogue needed to build the collective commitment driving rapid change, improved performance and organizational vitality. The principles are: 1. start the conversation with the leadership team, 2. draft the best managers to collect data and engage the organization in conversation, 3. to uncover the truth, protect the people in the conversation, 4. distill the conversation to the issues that matter, and 5. enable truth to speak to power.
