Abstract: | The Illyrian labour-managed firm is introduced, where the objective is the maximisation of income per worker. The strategic interactions are considered both in a labour-managed oligopoly and in the mixed setting where profit-maximising and labour-managed firms may be present. The results concern the choice of organizational form on the part of a potential entrant and the use of capital precommitments by incumbents. In the sector of labour-managed firms entry has a crucial role to play in attaining an efficient allocation of labour. This provides the main motivation for the analysis. |
