Abstract:At present, the gap in income between urban residents in China (as far as the gap in normal income is concerned) conforms to the economic growth. Its degree will continue to rise slowly in the years to come under the joint action of system reform and the economic development. It is estimated that the marginal growth rate will slow down, that is going towards the vertex of the reversed U curve or turning point. Under the scope of normal income, the widening gap in income distribution indicates the rising degree of fairness and is also the source of inspiring growth. So the government should not intervene it. What the policy should pay attention to is the two ends, that is, controlling the illegal or abnormal income and eradicating poverty.
