Abstract:Since reform and opening up, the income level and consumption level of China's urban and rural residents have all been raised by a big margin. But the gap in these lines between them is widening. The consumption level of rural residents is lower than their net income level while the consumption level of urban residents is far higher than the level of their income for living expenses. There exist the phenomena of serious unbalance in relationships between urban residents, income for living expenses, expenditure on living, savings deposit and investment in bond, which presents a widening trend.
