Abstract:This article focuses on the cultural encounters (henceforth as: c-encts.) and learning processes taking place in the context of multinational companies. It is argued that a narrative approach to expatriation and c-encts. may clarify ways in which these phenomena are understood and constructed as part of the social reality of those experiencing them. Analyses of expatriates' narratives are presented about critical incidents producing emotions, challenging the storytellers' established understandings, and making them reflect on and cope with c-encts. in novel ways. It is outlined how researchers and practitioners could work with narration as a means of stimulating cultural learning processes etc.
