Abstract:Greenfield sites offer management an ideal opportunity to consider what type of employee relation style it wishes to pursue and to develop personal policies which help establish and reinforce that particular style. It was found that the most influential factor affecting management approaches to employee relations was hinged on the life cycle stage of the firm. The role of trade unions is seen as key indicator of management approaches to employee relations in greenfield companies. A study has shown that the most striking feature of management approaches to employee relations is the prominence of a planned and coordinated approach to employee relations management in the majority of foreign owned companies.
