Abstract: | Many systems failures have little to do with technical issues. These systems fail not because information systems (IS) developers lack an understanding of computer hardware and software, but because these developers - whether located in centralized IS departments or sufficiently recognize that computer-based systems development is an example of organizational change. It is researchers in similar contexts haveĆ examined the same issues that now face managers attempting to develop successful IS. Examples of specific impediments to successful implementation are presented and some potential means of reducing them are described. |
