| Abstract: | The necessity and the social compatibility of ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) have become a controversial matter. As soon as the Deutsche Bundespost (DBP) Telekom announced its intention to digitalize and integrate the telecommunications network it was exposed to srong criticism. The main topic of German debate was a discussion of informational self-determination as a basic right and, if it exists, the consequences for the census and Data Protection Act. |
