Abstract:Business needs to anticipate activist issues and prepare in advance for dialogue and negotiation. By defining its own values and social responsibiliies, and by monitoring its own codes of business and ethical conduct, a corporation may prevent many crises from arising. When a crisis does occur, a corporation needs to be prepared to handle it with opennes and concern so it can emerge with a solid public image. A crisis exposes the soul of a corporation. It reveals the preparedness and competence of management.
