Abstract:Between 60 and 80 percent of job related accidents are in some way stress related. Such accidents are both disruptive and costly to the organization and distressing and harmful to the individual. During 1992, a research study among companies within a large retailing group based in the UK investigated the relationship between stress and company car accidents. The aim was to compare accident involved and accident free drivers to determine whether the former exhibited higher occupational stress levels. This article presents a summary of the main findings.
