| Abstract: | Command-directed economies are discredited, but governments of countries moving towards markets should eschew pro-active macro-economic policies. Deregulation, privatisation and tax reform will help restore and enhance the wealth-creating capability of market. The author comments briefly on changes in policy perceptions over the last decade or so, and then discusses areas of macro-economic policy in which debate continues to hamper progress towards greater prosperity. |
