Abstract:There seems to be a compelling need for a planning review process in multibusiness companies. Individual businesses must develop strategies and plans, and the corporate parent must understand what these are, and integrate them into its own corporate strategy and plan. Both sides hope to improve the quality of business decisions through constructive dialogue and the interplay of different perspectives. Yet, the results of the review process are disappointing. The problem is not the design of the process or the capacity of the participants. Rather, it is the lack of an adequate corporate level strategy.
