Abstract: | Outsourcing is clearly a topical issue. Prompted by interest from a wide range of managers, the Ashridge Strategic Management Center started a research project on the topic, and talked to many managers about their views on outsourcing. The most typical attitude expressed is a mixture of enthusiasm and fear: enthusiasm for outsourcing as a means of controlling costs and of developing simpler, more flexible organizations with new sources of competitive advantage, fear that failure to recognize the risks will lead to major mistakes. |
