| Abstract: | In 1995, Pudong New Area's per capita GNP was about USD 3100. It shows that Pudong New Area has moved one step towards industrialization but it has not completed labor transfer. The labor force of the primary industry accounted for 18.1% of the total of the industries including the primary, secondary and tertiary industries in 1994. The task facing Pudong New Area is to go a step further towards industrialization, that is, to enhance the market competitiveness of its industrial products through developing technology-intensive manufacturing industry. |
