Abstract:Some organizations are described as 'virtual' because they do not require the physical proximity that is normally regarded as necessary. For example, providing banking services which traditionally requires the customer to be physically in the presence of a bank branch and bank staff. Removing the constraint of physical proximity is attractive because it can open up significant economic benefits. But it also changes the interactions and relationships between the parties involved.
