Abstract: | Over the past 10 years, many organizations have found themselves in such precarious health that they believed their only recourse was surgery. This surgery has taken many forms, such as downsizing, rightsizing, reengineering, outsourcing, merger and acquisition activity, and seemingly continual restructuring. Rare is the organization that has escaped the surgical scalpel. As in surgery, the patient faces a dilemma. It is probably safe to say that the jury is still out regarding the success or failure of these surgical procedures. |
