| Abstract: | Indonesia's central bank governor, US-educated Soedradjat Djiwandono, has his work cut out. His tasks include maintaining investor confidence against a background of political instability and concerns about forthcoming elections. Few would envy the task of Mr. Djiwandono. He is charged with the management of the rupiah, the supervision of the banking system, the reorganization and merger of failed banks, the control of inflation and the monitoring of public and private sector foreign debt. |
