| Abstract: | The paper summarizes the most important results of a survey on strategic alliances of Austrian companies. The data was gathered by analyzing the contents of four Austrian business newspapers and magazines for the period of 1992 to 1996. The collected data was verified and completed by the participating companies using interviews. The empirical results cover extent and development of collaborating activities, objectives and content of the recorded alliances as well as the configuration of alliances dependent on the internal and external conditions at hand. If possible, the results are compared with other studies and implications for the management of strategic alliances and further research are concluded. |
