| Abstract: | The alignment of an organization's information technology to its business strategies is a recurrent theme in IS research, and has featured prominently in recent surveys of critical issues for IS management. Current corporate downsizing trends have had the effect of flattening organizations' structures. A transformation of information systems has accompanied this organizational flattening. Several different architectures have evolved during the transition from the monolithic centralized systems of the past to the de-centralized, distributed, client/server, and network-based computing architectures of the present. |
