Abstract:Lawsuits may kill Napster, but the concept behind the company could revolutionize infotech and reinvigorate the PC industry. Napster is a tiny startup in San Mateo, California, U.S., founded by Shawn Fanning and Sean Parker. Napster came out with new type of software that lets people trade music files over the Internet with astonishing ease and at an unbeatable price, that is, without any charge. Due to that, there is legal battle with the Recording Industry Association of America. Napster goes, however, far beyond the balance of power in the music business. Napster represents a new idea, a different architecture for exchanging information.
