Abstract:The paper states that despite the downturn that hit the world economy during 2001, FTSE 100 finance directors continued to enjoy a rise in average annual remuneration. This year's average remuneration was F579,000, compared with F536,000 in last year's survey and F436,000 the year before. For most companies, this survey covers the year 2001 and salaries were agreed before the start of the US downturn in the middle of last year. Next year's survey, therefore, could tell a different story. However, this survey shows that not all FDs were winners in the pay stakes. Some finance directors saw their salaries drop. Robert McCullough of investment manager Invescap fell out of the millionaire's club and had to settle for F987,000 in the year.
