| Abstract: | This study investigates the factors that contribute to a firm's persistence with failing alliances (hereafter as: alc./alcs.), using an escalation framework for strategic alcs. The framework is demonsrated using a case study of an escalation situation. An exploratory empirical study is also provided as the first step towards deeper empirical analysis. The variables contributing to persistence include high alc. termination costs, high sunk costs, and high alc. visibility. |
