| Abstract: | This paper explores project-level and team-level managerial functions aimed at managing inter-team task interdependencies, and analyses their effect on the performance of teams in a multi-team product development project. Hypotheses, which base on a 36 moths longitudinal study of a product development project in European automotive industry, are empirically tested. It is shown that team interface management plays a significant role during the concept phase of the project, whereas project structuring and support are most important functions in the development phase. |
