Abstract: | This paper illustrates the causes of piracy associated with registrations and with production and distribution. The study elaborates ten corporate actions to counter the spread of the "invevitable curse", based on interviews with U.K. and U.S. multinational managers working in China. In order to implement these actions, it is recommended that companies treat piracy as a challenge, be corporately proactive, be aware of the repertoire of possible strategies, investigate co-operative action with other companies, agencies and government and be continuosly alert to the dynamic nature of piracy. |
