| Abstract: | This article examines the effect of the so-called cost channel on the impact that interest rate shocks have on macroeconomic aggregates. The authors use a structural approach in order to study the relevance of the cost channel for inflation dynamics in G7 countries. The findings indicate that there are significant and varying direct interest rate effects for the majority of countries, including member countries of the EU. |
