Abstract:The article examines the interaction between tourists and how it affects their vacation experience, employing a social dimensional approach. Interviews with cruise passengers and virtual focus group discussions are conducted and the findings indicate that tourist interaction follows the common model of relationship development (by Levinger and Snoek, 1972). Special meaning exists in this kind of interaction only if it exceeds the common role script for unacquainted people. The study shows that social dimensional approach was able to detect an aspect of a tourist experience: the extent to which interaction between tourists affects their cruise experience.
