Abstract:The article examines the effects of forms of power on organizational members. The results are based on an ethnographic research study that investigates the New South Wales Police Service. Authors examine existing theories that suggest the deployment of two interrelated arguments. The first one is that ethics are embedded in the micro-level everyday organizational life and practices. This argument is contrasted with a focus on the macro-level institutional forces that influence ethics. The article builds on these two bodies of knowledge to explain ethical change as deeply rooted in the power relations that can be seen in social action.
