Abstract: | Encompassing both descriptive and normative issues in examining delegation's occurence and its effectiveness, two questions are addressed: why are some subordinates delegated more decision making authority than others, and under what circumstances is delegation an effective decision making process? In order to address these questions,it is important to define the concept of delegation and distinguish it from other forms of subordinates' involvement in decision making. Implications of the findings of a research for participative decision making and leadership are discussed. |
