| Abstract: | The historic background of the Investment Canada Act is outlined. Technical and political problems of the former solutions are listed. The goals of the Progressive Conservative Party concerning the issue are summarized. Investments requiring prior approval are divided from those requiring only notification. Factors determining the legal nature of the investments are analyzed. Patterns of control are outlined. Gaps in the regulations are highlighted. Investments subject to review are described. Administrative procedures are discussed. Canada is found to be a country open for business. |
