| Abstract: | Several instances have been found where a system was subverted for illegal purposes. Most crimes committed where a computer was involved were not detected by the auditors responsible for assuring that the systems controls were adequate. Auditors must expand their investigation of computerized systems to include new areas. These areas are those which have been found vulnerable in the past and continue to represent the most likely targets of potential computer criminals. Methods for analyzing the critical areas are suggested. |
