Abstract:Under the aegis of Meyer, M. a small and sleepy south London lighting company has been transformed into an aggressive, acquisitive and publicly quoted player. The concern called Emess is set to challenge the multinationals of the industry. Vice chairman McGrath, P. who joined a strong management team at Emess had extensive corporate experience with some famous firms. The number of employees and the turnover of Emess have grown considerably since Meyer bought it. A first buy, brass and glass fittings maker Poole Lighting started the firm on the acquisition route. It earns 60 % of its total revenue from outside the UK.
