Abstract:The government's insistence that BBC and ITV should put out 25% of their output to independents, and the formation of Channel 4 have expanded the independent production sector. Because of its remit, C4 still remains the largest commissioner. The industry may double in size in the next two years with the arrival of Sky and BSB. The natural progression of the market may be towards concentration of commission into fewer and larger hands.
