Abstract: | Despite all the positive impulses originating from computer support in the production area, the overall effect frequently does not stand in a favourable ratio to the expenditures. This is often attributed to the insufficient logistical orientation of the CIM solutions. A step-by-step approach to the development of a logistics-oriented CIM-system is presented. Some arguments are set out supporting the view that just-in-time production is a prerequisite of any effective CIM-system. The role of an appropriate information system is emphasized. |
