Abstract:The time of replacement purchases of durable goods is modelled as a function of household characteristics, consumer attitude and perceptions, and search activity. Demographic variables for early and late replacement categories, their search activity is compared. Multivariate analyses are conducted. Descriptive statistics of the automobile replacement buyer categories are presented. Results indicate that early replacement buyers. Early replacers have with styling and image, and less concerned with costs than late replacement buyers are more concerned higher income, but lower level of educational achievement and occupational status. Late replacers engage in more search activity. Marketing implications are offered.
