| Abstract: | The author has written a book on the political economy of protectionism and here he criticizes two other economists writing on the subject: Frey (1984) and Hillman (1989). Acknowledging their achievements, Bernholz questions some assumptions employed in the models: the influence of the interest groups on protection is exaggerated, at the same time the influence is restricted to financial contributions to political parties, etc. |
