| Abstract: | Recent developments in the Bulgarian labour market are described, including associated changes in the institutional framework. Profound changes are under way, including the emergence of rapidly rising unemployment, a constant or declining working population, widening of wage differentials and falling real wages. Many of these trends point to greater labour market flexibility. The broad scope of institutional change in Bulgaria is also reflected in a radical transformation of the labour relations system and reforms in the social safety net. |
