| Abstract: | Soon employers will have rights to access virtually all personal files kept about them by their employers. The data protection directive will complete, what data protection act of 1984 started. The data protection directive of 1995 has to be implemented across the European Union by October 1998. The data protection act gave employees the right to see computerised information about them held by their employers. The directive goes further: in addition to giving individuals access to computerised and papers-based information. it also aims to protect the privacy. The directive limits the type of information which can be collected. |
